La Brune Pinot Noir was born from the friendship of winemaker Nico Grobler, ex-winemaker at Eikendal Vineyards in Stellenbosch, South Africa and Vigneron Bruno Lorenzon of Domaine Lorenzon in Mercurey, (Cote Chalonnaise, Burgundy, France). With many visits to Burgundy for harvest, Nico fell in love with the Pinot Noir grape and set out to craft a South African bottling that showed the same finesse, elegance, restraint, and purity one would find in Burgundy. On the nose, perfumed, orange peel and strawberry. Notes of forest floor and mushroom. The palate linear, tight, chalky with a mineral core and fresh tannins, coated with some beautiful texture, white strawberry and cherry, with a hint of forest floor and a long pure finish.
